Ellen Brewster's doctoral research looks at elocution books published in the latter-half of the eighteenth century. Her project considers how these books theorised the relationship between printed text and oral performance. Alongside her studies, Ellen blogs about her daily experience of being a graduate student on Instagram, and has worked to develop professional development programmes for Oxford's graduate student community. She has also been a guest on the 'Pop Enlightenments' podcast, discussing modern fictional representations of the eighteenth-century.
